Your situation

Moving home with Islamic home finance

Whether your arrangement can move with you, and how to compare your options if it cannot.

What to check, in order

  1. Check portability

Find out whether your current arrangement can transfer to a new property and on what terms.

  2. Understand exit costs

If it cannot move, find out what it costs to settle early.

  3. Compare staying against switching

Compare your provider's terms for the new home with other arrangements over the same period.

  4. Line up the timing

Buying and selling at once is easier when the finance, solicitor and provider timelines are agreed early.

  5. Get authorised advice

An adviser can check what you qualify for on the new property.

Questions to ask a provider or adviser

  • Is my arrangement portable, and what would you need to approve the new property?
  • What is my current share of the home, and how much is left to buy?
  • Are there charges for settling early?
  • How would my payments change on a more expensive property?
